Interview Like A Pro – How AI Can Be Your Secret Weapon!

Author: Bhavika Behl

Artificial Intelligence is slowly working its way into our everyday lives. Questions like: “Hey Gemini, I have leftover chicken, rice, and veggies—suggest some recipes.” or “ChatGPT, my boss wants me to finish this presentation before midnight but I’m not feeling it tonight—summarize this article for me.”

…are becoming second nature. While some see A.I. as a threat to human intelligence and creativity, there are clear benefits we can’t ignore. In today’s corporate world, staying ahead—or at least keeping up—is part of our professional responsibility.

One area where A.I. can really shine? Helping you prepare for one of the most nerve-wracking experiences in your career: the job interview.

According to Everest College’s 2013 Job Interview Anxiety Survey, 92% of U.S. adults feel anxious about interviews. After reading this guide and applying these tips, our goal is to help you join the confident 8%.

Step 1: Before You Go — Do Your Research

The first step to nailing an interview is knowing your stuff: the company, the role, and the interview style. A.I. can do the heavy lifting by gathering initial information for you.

Tips:

1. Verify everything. A.I. can make mistakes—double-check facts from reliable sources.

2. Use smart keywords. A.I. tools work best when you use clear, specific prompts with context.

Step 2: Generate Interview Questions

Don’t just prepare for questions you’ll be asked—also think of questions you can ask the interviewer. This shows engagement, research, and genuine interest in the role.

Tips:

● When A.I. suggests possible questions, ask it to also explain the kind of answers interviewers expect.

● Don’t memorize scripted lines—understand the meaning and tailor it to your personality.

Sample Follow-Up Questions (adapted from Indeed’s recommendations):

● How can I succeed in this role?

● What are some challenges I might face here?

● Does the company offer professional development opportunities?

● How is productivity measured?

● What makes this company unique?

● What feedback do you have for me?

● What’s the company culture like?

Step 3: Test Your Answers Using the S.T.A.R. Method

Once you have practice questions, use A.I. to help refine your answers using the S.T.A.R. format

Situation – Describe the scenario.

Task – Explain your responsibility or goal.

Action – Detail the steps you took.

Result – Share the outcome and impact.

Prompt A.I. to critique your answers and suggest ways to make them more concise, clear, or impactful using this framework.

Step 4: Try Specialized A.I. Tools

Here are a few A.I. resources worth checking out:

Big Interview – Interview practice and coaching.

InterviewAI.io – Personalized question generation and feedback.

LeetCode Wizard – For coding interviews.

General GenAI Tools – ChatGPT, Gemini, etc. for research, feedback, and phrasing.

Step 5: During the Interview — Show Up as Your Best Self

A.I. can help you prepare, but the real magic happens in the room.

● Practice active listening so you can respond thoughtfully.

● Be authentic—interviewers can tell when you’re faking it.

● Be honest and straightforward—it builds trust.

A.I. is a tool, not a crutch. Let it help you prepare, but bring your personality, stories, and values to the conversation. That’s how you’ll stand out—and ace the interview.

Good luck—you’ve got this!
